'Good move' - Tottenham confirm another deadline day exit as update emerges on 'superb' prospect

Through their official Twitter account, Tottenham have announced the departure of goalkeeping starlet and academy ace Joshua Oluwayemi on loan to Maidenhead United in a deadline day move.

Oluwayemi, who has shown great potential in the Tottenham academy ranks, so much so that Alasdair Gold hinted he could one day have the talent to succeed Hugo Lloris, is set to gain valuable experience in the lower divisions.

Oluwayemi breakdown

Going out to Maidenhead until January, the hope for Spurs is that Oluwayemi will make a great impression outside Hotspur Way’s elite development squads and go on to fight for his Tottenham first team place in future seasons.

The Lilywhites youngster’s professional contract expires at the end of this campaign, having put pen to paper on a two-year-deal with the club in 2019 after impressing at youth level.

An established youth international for England, despite possessing Nigerian heritage, the promising 6 foot 1 starlet helped Tottenham win the 2018 Euro Youth Cup with a head-turning performance against Saint Wendel in Germany. Lauding his influence, academy coach Matt Wells lauded him as ‘superb‘ whilst putting special emphasis on his attitude and mentality as a ‘catalyst‘ for their success that year.

Hailing the ‘good move’ on Twitter, Football.London correspondent Alasdair Gold described Oluwayemi potentially getting much-deserved minutes on loan as a ‘good thing‘, and Spurs fans will be hoping his potential comes to fruition at some point in the near future.

Transfer Tavern take

After a busy deadline day, with chairman Daniel Levy typing up deals for marquee signing Joe Rodon whilst loaning out Cameron Carter-Vickers, the club have now confirmed another last-gasp move in Oluwayemi to Maidenhead.

Spurs are now fully aware of their squad pick until the transfer window reopens in January and it is set to be an interesting few months in north London.

Tottenham fans, can Oluwayemi become the next Hugo Lloris? Have your say in the comments section below…
