'I didn't like it' – Frank Lampard had some grievances despite midweek Chelsea win

Chelsea scraped a win against Norwich City on Tuesday to strengthen their push for Champions League football.

It took until the stroke of half-time for the Blues to find the back of the net, with Olivier Giroud thumping home a header from a Christian Pulisic cross. However, aside from that one goal, Frank Lampard’s side struggled against the already-relegated Canaries.

Although Chelsea dominated possession with 68%, they struggled to convert their many chances into something worthwhile in front of goal. The home side registered a total of 22 shots but only six were on target and only one actually found the back of the net (via BBC Sport).

Lampard said that he is thrilled with the win but admitted that there were moments which made him nervous with a slim one-goal lead.

“We had about 10 or 15 minutes in the second half where I didn’t like it,” the 42-year-old told Sky Sports. “We went a bit slow, we gave a few balls away and it was almost like we were inviting them back in the game.

“That bit I didn’t like. But after that, we got it back a little bit.”

Chelsea’s all-important three points sees them stay ahead of Manchester United, who are also fighting hard for a place in the Champions League next season. The Blues have just two league fixtures left, in which they will take on Liverpool and Wolves.

They may need maximum points out of these meetings to ensure that they keep their place in the top four and will almost certainly need to improve from Tuesday’s display against the Premier League’s bottom club.
