7-goal ace comes in as Bilic makes one change: West Brom predicted XI v Fulham [Opinion]
West Brom’s momentum may have been slightly checked by their weekend draw at Blackburn but they are still well on course for automatic promotion to the Premier League as they welcome Fulham to The Hawthorns this evening.
The Baggies go into the midweek fixtures three points clear of Brentford and, while they can’t clinch promotion in this round of games, they could be on the brink of doing so if they win and the Bees slip up. Three points for Slaven Bilic’s side today would also make it impossible for Fulham to catch them.
As per Sports Mole, the Albion boss is again set to be without the injured Kieran Gibbs but otherwise should have a full squad at his disposal. With that in mind, our predicted West Brom XI for the visit of the Cottagers shows just one change from the team that started at Ewood Park on Saturday:
Sam Johnstone will, as ever, be in goals, while the full-back duo of Conor Townsend and Dara O’Shea look set to keep their places. Ahmed Hegazi was available at the weekend following his recent suspension but didn’t play on Saturday and Bilic may keep the same centre-back pairing of Kyle Bartley and Semi Ajayi for this evening’s clash.
Jake Livermore and Romaine Sawyers have been the manager’s preferred defensive midfield partnership for the bulk of the season and it seems likely that they will both be retained for the Fulham game. In attack, Charlie Austin could also be given the nod to once more start at centre-forward, although Hal Robson-Kanu may be pushing for a recall, having replaced his fellow striker during the Blackburn game.
The one change to the team from Saturday could come in the attacking midfield trident behind the lone centre-forward. Filip Krovinovic scored at Ewood Park and should therefore keep his place in the number 10 role, with the in-form Matheus Pereira again starting on the right.
There could, however, be a recall to the starting line-up for Grady Diangana, who has had injury troubles of late but featured for half an hour on Saturday. He came on in place of Kamil Grosicki, who may be given a rest having started the last three games.
Having the likes of Robson-Kanu and Diangana, who have scored 10 and seven goals respectively this season, as options to potentially bring into the team reflects the depth of attacking quality at Bilic’s disposal and it will be intriguing to see if either or both are recalled this evening.
