Report: SPFL announcement may have left Ross Wilson's Gers transfer plans in tatters
Glasgow Rangers’ loan plans for their youngsters appear to have taken a big hit following the news on Monday in regards to reconstruction and the return of Championship football.
It was confirmed on the first day of the new week that the proposal to mix-up the league structure north of the border had been rejected, with just 16 sides believing that it would have been the best thing to do for the game. As such, the system will stay the same as before.
The SPFL also confirmed that the Championship season will not start until October, and will play just 27 games instead of a usual 36. For the Gers, though, it will have been the fact that there has been no update on League One and League Two that may have the biggest impact.
According to Football Insider, the Gers had been planning to send their youngsters to sides in the Championship and below on a temporary basis in an attempt to see them receive more regular football. Now, though, with no idea when football could return, the Ibrox outfit may need to come up with alternative plans.
The Gers should be able to find alternative clubs to take their players on a short-term basis, but it is still an inconvenience they could rather do without. They clearly have a system that works and that they trust. Now, Ross Wilson and co will need to start all over again.
