'He'll go' - Tottenham could lose 6 ft 2 ‘beast’ in January; Pochettino tipped to move
Speaking to Football Insider, pundit Kevin Campbell has claimed that Dele Alli could find a new club in January – going on to claim ‘he’ll go’, possibly on loan, as Mauricio Pochettino has been tipped to move for the out-of-favour ‘beast‘.
Alli has been largely omitted by Spurs boss Jose Mourinho, with the Englishman having played just 67 minutes of Premier League action so far under the Portuguese’ tenure this season.
Alli on the move?
Pochettino, who is now heavily linked with the Man United manager’s job as a replacement for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, has also been tipped to prise away the attacker from Tottenham if he does take over at Old Trafford (Football Insider).
The Argentine hasn’t held back his praise for Alli recently, comparing him to the likes of Diego Maradona and Ronaldinho, and it is feasible to suggest he could be a target if he is eventually appointed at United.
However, pundit Campbell has touted Ligue 1 giants Paris-Saint Germain as the most likely destination if anywhere – hinting to Football Insider that his exit in January is a real possibility.
“There is talk of PSG and that might suit him. Link up with Neymar and Mbappe there,” explained Campbell.
“I truly believe if he doesn’t get game time for Spurs between now and January, he’ll go out on loan and it’s up to him after that.
“He’s a good player, we know he can score, he’s been an England player for years and all of sudden he falls off a cliff.
“We’ve seen it happen with Mourinho before, there’s always one and Dele Alli is the one who has fallen down the pecking order.
“He’s got to get himself sorted and get a club. He’ll get himself sorted because he’s talented.”
Transfer Tavern take
Whether its PSG or, potentially, a new look Pochettino -led United who comes calling – it’s safe to say that Spurs are in danger of losing a star midfield option.
The postponed Euro 2020 Championship lies just around the corner, and it’s safe to say Alli will want to find a way back into Gareth Southgate’s plans so he might be open to a loan move if he continues to be frozen out with Spurs.
