New Sheffield Wednesday manager Tony Pulis had his first press conference yesterday since being appointed. A lot of the Owls’ fanbase are reacting to one of the comments he made about their rivals Sheffield United.
The former Stoke City and Crystal Palace manager has a great record in the Premier League and has never been relegated from the top flight. He also has great experience in the Championship with the Potters and other big sides like Middlesborough.
Dom Howson tweeted out that Pulis said: “When you look at the football club and enormous following they get, no disrespect to Sheffield United but if you got this club into the Premier League it would be the biggest club in Sheffield.”
This is an easy way to get some brownie points from supporters and it emphasises Pulis is ready for the big challenge ahead of him. With the international break nearly over, Owls supporters will get to see what the new manager is all about. It’s not an easy start as they face Preston and Swansea in the space of five days and both fixtures are away from home.
