'Great news', 'Get him in' - Many Sheff Wed fans react to Dom Howson's update
Many Sheffield Wednesday fans are reacting to the news that veteran goalkeeper Keiren Westwood is back in contention to feature for the Owls.
According to journalist Dom Howson, Westwood has now been registered as part of Sheffield Wednesday’s 25-man squad and is in contention to be involved against Preston this weekend.
The 36 year-old, who has kept 67 clean sheets in his 179 appearances for the club, has been at the club for six years (Transfermarkt). However he has not featured for the side in the division for over a year (November 23rd, 2019). This was due to former manager Garry Monk favouring other options.
It seems like new manager Tony Pulis coming in was exactly what the Irishman needed, as he looks set to be given another chance to feature for the Owls.
The club are in the relegation zone, and have a lot of pressure to start getting some better results on the board. Therefore it is not surprising to see Pulis try to change things up at the back, especially with the Owls currently on a goal difference of minus four.

This is gd news. At the time he got dropped last season it was the right decision as he had been poor but it should have been a rest and bk in. Not an exile. In times of struggle experience is key

Best Sheffield Wednesday news I’ve read in a long time.

Really not sure about this. has been a good keeper but lost form and there have to be issues for 2 managers to freeze him out. I’d also be miffed if I was Wildsmith and lost my place after 2 clean sheets.

Goes straight into starting 11 for me

Great news. Will he really be up to speed though to go straight in to the first team? Would it make sense to have a week or 2 training with the first team first?
