Two trusted outlets are at odds over dramatic Leeds-related transfer update

Leeds United’s attempts to sign Michael Cuisance from Bayern Munich have come to an abrupt end with various different claims made about why the deal broke down emerging.

Marcelo Bielsa has seen his side start the Premier League season in superb form, narrowly losing to Liverpool on the opening day before securing back-to-back wins over Sheffield United and Fulham, respectively.

The good start follows the successful promotion to England’s top flight last term, with Leeds winning the Championship title in the process.

Improving his squad options this summer using the transfer market, Bielsa hauled in such players like Rodrigo Moreno and Diego Llorente, and another player in Cuisance was expected to arrive too.

Sky Sports were among various media outlets to report that the French youngster was set for a move to Elland Road with a medical and agreement of a transfer fee in the pipeline.

Having been left out of Bayern Munich’s 4-1 defeat to Hoffenheim at the weekend, further speculation mounted claiming the midfielder was set for a move to Yorkshire.

However, it has now been reported that the deal is off with Sky Sports claiming that the French under-20 international failed a medical.

Following on from that report, Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano took to Twitter and claimed that problems over how the deal would be paid for by Leeds stopped the deal progressing.

Joining Bayern in August 2019, the central midfielder has featured very little for the Bavarian side, making just 11 first team appearances.

With Cuisance all-but a Leeds player on Thursday, it is a kick in the teeth for Bielsa that the deal is now off, especially considering that he is keen to bring in a new midfielder.

The Argentine coach has other options, with a move for Todd Cantwell mentioned of late and with interest in Rodrigo De Paul lingering in the background.

With just a few days remaining for Bielsa to bring in a new midfielder, it will now be interesting to see who he does make a move for.

Further details of Cuisance’s failed move are expected to be released and you can expect the Argentine boss to be questioned on the deal ahead of this weekend’s game against Manchester City.
