Tottenham receive boost over £28.8m-rated summer target as January stance revealed
Tottenham Hotspur’s chances of securing a deal for Napoli striker Arkadiusz Milik have received a boost with the Italian side looking to sell the forward in the January transfer window.
Milik has become surplus to requirements at Napoli at the start of the Serie A campaign. He had been the subject of interest from both Tottenham and Everton throughout the summer. However, the Toffees pulled out of a move to sign him after Carlo Ancelotti decided against the move, as per Tutto Napoli, while the north Londoners opted for Carlos Vinicius.
Cut-price move for Spurs
According to a recent report from TuttoMercatoWeb, Milik could be available for a cut price due to the fact he is entering the last year of his contract, meaning Spurs could potentially add him to the incredible depth they are building without a big hit financially.
Milik is currently valued at around £28.8 million, according to Transfermarkt, but Napoli are set to try and cash in on him in January to avoid losing the forward for free at the end of the campaign, as per the Daily Mail.
Harry Kane has started the current campaign on fire in terms of both goal scoring and providing goals for his teammates, but given his injury problems in the past, the club would be wise to keep an eye on Milik until January in case Kane or Vinicius suffer a serious issue.
Milik to add even more depth?
Tottenham’s front three of Kane, Son Heung-min and Gareth Bale is likely to be one of the most feared forward lines in Europe. Between them, Kane and Son have already fired in 12 league goals this term. Adding a player of Milik’s potential could only enhance Mourinho’s options.
The Poland international fired in 11 league goals last term and an impressive tally of 17 the previous campaign, as per Sofascore. The 26-year-old can also be a creative forward having created four big chances in 2018/19 and averaging an 83% passing accuracy (Sofascore). That would make him an ideal backup for Kane if Vinicius doesn’t hit the ground running.
