'Pay rise', 'Utterly magnificent' - Many RFC fans love club's thinly-veiled journalist swipe
Glasgow Rangers continued their fantastic early season form against Galatasaray in the Europa League on Thursday as they won 2-1 to make it to the Group Stage of the competition for the third year in a row.
Goals from Scott Arfield and James Tavernier earned the Gers a spot in the next round, and the Ibrox outfit will find out in the draw at 12pm on Friday who they will face.
It is another positive result for Gerrard, who has done rather well with the Gers in European competition. As said previously, they have been in the group stages in the previous two campaigns, and last term, they reached the Tound of 16 before eventually falling to Bayer Leverkusen.
Of course, there is still plenty of work to do – the former Liverpool captain will want to get his hands on some silverware at the end of the term – but there are still plenty of positives to take from the recent performances. It seems that Gerrard has come a long way since Graham Spiers said he was “quietly terrified” about the size of job facing the new manager at the 54-time Scottish champions when he took over.
The Gers were obviously in good spirits following their latest victory, and so was the person in charge of their official Twitter account! In the aftermath of the match, they shared a picture of Gerrard celebrating with the caption: “Quietly terrified”. That was quickly lapped up by the club’s fans – they have had issues with said journalist in the past – and they took to the social media platform to share their agreement.
