'Ancelotti will not stand for anything like that' - Pundit questions 'talented' Everton ace

Speaking before Wednesday’s Champions League action, Paul Robinson questioned the attitude of Moise Kean after the Everton man’s brace for Paris Saint-Germain last weekend.

Speaking to Football Insider, the former Tottenham, Leeds and England goalkeeper was asked whether he thinks that the Italy international has a future at Goodison Park, to which he replied:

“I was very surprised that it never worked out for him at Everton.

“I thought it was a fantastic signing having watched him play at Juventus. He looked big and strong and had an eye for goal.

“For whatever reason it did not work out for him last season. I thought he would take his fresh opportunity under Carlo Ancelotti but he has ended up moving to PSG.

“I still think he is a talented, top player. He has already proven at PSG with two goals already.

“The question remains as to whether he has off the field problems which have been spoken about before. Ancelotti will not stand for anything like that. On the field there is no question. He is a top striker.

“Only time will tell if he still has a future at Everton but right now he has an opportunity at one of the top football clubs in the world.”

Kean was ‘fantastic’ at Juventus

Indeed, Kean was arguably ‘fantastic’ while he was playing at Juventus as Robinson claims, scoring seven goals in 17 games in all competitions in 2018/19 while still only a teenager for the Old Lady (Transfermarkt).

This prompted the Merseyside club to fork out a sizeable £24.75m transfer fee to sign the youngster off the back of such early promise, but it has perhaps not quite worked out for Kean at the Toffees as of yet.

Premier League a step too far for Kean?

The Premier League was maybe a step too far for Kean, who only managed to find the back of the net twice and supplied just two assists in 31 matches in England’s highest division (Transfermarkt) before making his loan move to Champions League finalists PSG in the summer transfer window.

Is Ligue 1 Kean’s level?

Indeed, considering he took his tally for the season to four at the weekend before another brace last night made it six, perhaps Ligue 1 is more indicative of Kean’s ideal level – Wednesday’s opponents were hardly world-beaters either.

With more goals in France’s top flight, the striker could gain some much-needed confidence and maybe bump up a possible price tag if the Blues were to decide to sell him on a permanent deal once his loan spell expires in the summer.
