Report: Newcastle interested in £15.9m-valued ace labelled the 'future Kun Aguero'
Newcastle United are reportedly interested in signing Alan Velasco in the upcoming summer transfer window, according to Foot Mercato.
As per the outlet, he has a release clause of $20 million, which is the equivalent of around £15.9 million, as Olympique Lyon and AS Monaco are also interested in his services.
The 17-year old is a big hope for Independiente as the article suggests, having already broken into their first team at such a young age, making 10 senior appearances in all competitions, according to Transfermarkt.
He has already received high praise in his career, with the vice president of Independiente, Pablo Moyano, recently labelling him “the future Kun Agüero.”
Velasco also has the added ability of being able to play off of both flanks, a trait that Allan Saint-Maximin has also shown since his arrival in last summer’s window.
The 23-year old has arguably blown St. James’ Park away in his debut season, scoring three goals and making four assists in 24 games in the 2019/20 Premier League so far, while also creating eight big chances and averaging 4.8 successful dribbles and 1.4 key passes per match (via Sofascore).
Velasco would surely be hoping to follow in a similar path to the Frenchman if he was to join up with Steve Bruce in the North East, that is if he is given an opportunity with the senior squad.
The potential transfer fee should be affordable to pay as well, especially if the proposed takeover of the Magpies is approved by England’s highest division, but it is perhaps a risk to spend that much money on such a young player.
Nevertheless, the Argentinian under-17 international may well turn out to be a decent buy, especially given how much of a career he still has ahead of him.
