Report: Arsenal make two significant decisions on 22 y/o defender
Following recent rumours suggesting that Konstantinos Mavropanos could be heading back to Germany on loan, Arsenal have confirmed that he will indeed return to mainland Europe for next season despite signing a new deal for the Gunners.
On their official website, Arsenal stated: “Dinos Mavropanos has signed a new contract with us and will join VfB Stuttgart on loan next season.
“Everyone at Arsenal sends their congratulations to Dinos and wishes him all the best for his time with Stuttgart.”
Mavrapanos is only 22 and was loaned out to 2. Bundesliga side FC Nurnberg this season, where he made 12 appearances and helped the team to four clean sheets, per Transfermarkt. He made enough of an impression to convince Stuttgart, who were promoted to the top flight this year, to take him on loan, with the Bundesliga returnees believing that he can prosper at that level.
Therefore, another loan deal appears to be a good idea and Stuttgart looking like a great move as he would be getting experience in one of Europe’s leading divisions and, from there, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta can assess how well he does and duly decide or not whether he has a future with the Gunners.
It is also a good sign for supporters that Arsenal have given him another deal, as this indicates that Arteta rates the player and believes that he has a future at the club.
Hopefully he impresses in Germany and comes back to the Emirates Stadium even stronger and ready to excel in the Premier League, where he has so far had scant opportunities.
Gunners fans, are you happy that Mavorpanos has signed a new contract? Is loaning him out again the right decision? Comment below with your views!
