'Another Gylfi', 'Big waste of money' - Many EFC fans slam link to 'finished' £28.8m-valued man

Plenty of Everton fans have slammed a transfer link to James Rodriguez as Sport (via Sport Witness) have claimed that the Merseyside side club are interested in signing him in the upcoming summer transfer window.

However, according to the outlet, the player himself is ‘not too convinced’ by the possible move to Goodison Park but admitted that Carlo Ancelotti’s team are one of his ‘main options’.

Rodriguez is apparently desperate to leave the Santiago Bernabeu as he has ‘grown tired’ of the situation at the Spanish giants, which may lead to a potential exit away from Los Blancos.

Indeed, the £28.8 million-valued man has been on the fringes in Spain having returned from his loan spell at Bayern Munich for the 2019/20 season, as he has since only played in 14 games in all competitions, scoring just one goal and making a mere two assists, as per Transfermarkt.

Nevertheless, the publication points out that Ancelotti was once interested in signing Rodriguez for Napoli and Manchester United and Atletico Madrid are also thought to be options for him.

However, one EFC supporter described him as ‘another Gylfi’ on Twitter as both Rodriguez and Sigurdsson have made relatively low goal and assist contributions in their respective domestic leagues so far in this campaign (via Whoscored).

Another Toffee claimed that he would be a ‘big waste of money’, as at 29 years of age and based on these stats one may question whether the Colombian international is worth all that much, with a third supporter claiming he is ‘finished’.
