An update on Liverpool’s failed approach for Timo Werner has come to light as they shift their focus onto other summer targets.
According to a claim from Jan Aage Fjortoft (relayed via @AnfieldEdition), Jurgen Klopp instructed the club to buy the former RB Leipzig man but the Liverpool board and Fenway Sports Group turned down his request.
In a shock twist of events, Werner put pen to paper for Premier League rivals Chelsea amid the speculation over a potential Anfield move.
The Reds are yet to make a summer signing but are heavily linked to Bayern Munich midfield Thiago Alcantara.
