Report: Gers establish plan for 5-goal ace who has shades of Davie Cooper
According to Football Insider, Glasgow Rangers want to loan Glenn Middleton to an English Football League club next season.
The 20-year-old spent the entire previous campaign away from Ibrox, first joining Hibernian before moving to Bradford City south of the border.
Now, it looks as though Steven Gerrard wants the winger to continue his development with another loan spell, with there being a desire to send him to England on a temporary basis.
There is certainly plenty of hype surrounding the youngster – he has even been said to have “shades of Davie Cooper” about him – and so Gerrard and co will be looking for the best possible plan to help Middleton achieve his full potential.
The eventual aim will be for him to become a regular at Ibrox, but at the moment he needs to play week-in week-out – with Ryan Kent ahead of him, that is unlikely to happen in the near future. So far for the Gers, he has five goals and five assists in 28 matches – there are already signs that he can become an important player for the club.
The only way he will improve, though, is if he plays on a regular basis, which explains the Gers’ decision. Hopefully, Middleton can join a club that suits all parties.
