Sheffield United claimed a solid 1-0 win over Norwich in their last Premier League fixture and are currently placed seventh in the table and battling for a European spot.
Three months later, the Blades have a great chance to restart their Premier League campaign with a bang as their first competitive fixture for three months (due to recent events) is an away fixture against relegation-battling Aston Villa this evening.
The two met earlier this season, with John Fleck’s brace giving United a 2-0 victory at Bramall Lane, and they will hope that their good form this campaign can continue despite the long break.
Three points for the Blades would move them into the top five in the league, and TT has predicted the XI with which Chris Wilder might start, with one noticeable change as John Lundstram loses his spot to the club’s record transfer signing Sander Berge.
Veteran striker Billy Sharp signed a new deal at the club last week until 2022 and scored the side’s last competitive goal. He has been among the goals in the friendlies played to prepare teams for the return of the Premier League, so he should keep his place in the side.
Since Berge arrived at the club in January, Lundstram has seen himself sometimes being replaced by the Norwegian and, whilst the Englishman still hasn’t signed a new contract, Wilder might prefer the new blood to the old guard in their return fixture.
Meanwhile, the Blades have barely seen their back eight change much this campaign, and with Wilder confirming this week that Sheffield United had agreed a deal with Manchester United to keep Dean Henderson at Bramall Lane until the end of the season, he can continue to keep all eight players that he prefers in the centre of midfield and defensive positions.
