'Clown', 'Bruno saga all over again' - Many Man Utd fans slam latest Jadon Sancho update
Manchester United have been chasing Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho for three years now, according to The Manchester Evening News.
ESPN recently revealed Sancho has informed Dortmund he wants to leave Germany and return to England.
Nevertheless, despite reports insisting that the Red Devils are the clear front-runners to sign the winger in the summer, United appear to be no further forward.
According to Samuel Luckhurst, the board accepts their dealings in the transfer market will be vastly different from what they had initially planned before the pandemic.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has already been busy ahead of the 2020/21 Premier League season by signing Odion Ighalo. The Nigerian, who is currently on loan from Shanghai Shenhua, has received an extension after impressing the club he supported as a boy, as he has scored four goals in eight appearances so far.
United have started drafting a list of alternatives as the Bundesliga challengers are still demanding over £100m for Sancho, despite the financial repercussions of the COVID-19 crisis.
Ed Woodward previously admitted it was unrealistic to expect the board to splash the cash in the current climate. The Red Devils are willing to offer substantial add-ons that would add up to a 9-figure sum for the winger, rather than paying the staggering fee upfront.
Rightly or wrongly, this would follow in a similar vein to January signing Bruno Fernandes, who moved to Old Trafford from Sporting Lisbon for £46.5m, which rose to £68m at the end of the month.
Unsurprisingly, many United fans are devastated by the latest transfer update, with one fan directing their wrath at the executive vice-chairman, branding him a “clown,” while another bemoaned the fact it is the “Bruno saga all over again.”

We’ll never win the league with that kind of mentality. Buying cheaper alternatives will get you nowhere, hence why we’re in the position we’re in
