‘Player that Tottenham need’ - Levy could seal ‘genius’ return in January; it’s not Eriksen
Writing for football.london, journalist Colin Millar has detailed the star players who Tottenham can open talks with ahead of the looming January transfer window – with former hero Luka Modric named as a candidate for Daniel Levy’s interest.
Modric, who was tipped with a return to Spurs by former boss Harry Redknapp, looks set to leave Real Madrid at the end of this season as things stand – with the Croatian’s contract expiring in 2021.
Modric return on the cards?
The playmaker was a mainstay under Redknapp during the early years of the 2010s, playing excellently alongside the likes of Gareth Bale, who recently made a sensational return to the club himself.
Now, journalist Millar has claimed that Tottenham could open talks with Modric in January, especially with the Galacticos yet to renew his current deal.
Madrid face the possibility of him leaving on a free deal next summer, and Florentino Perez could want to let him go for a profit.

Levy’s relationship with the La Liga giants has only been strengthened with the completed deals for Sergio Reguilon and Bale, with Modric making a sensational comeback arguably foolish to rule out at this point.
Christian Eriksen has been repeatedly linked with a move back to Spurs but Modric has now emerged as a potential candidate.
Described as a ‘player that Tottenham need‘ by Redknapp, Levy could indeed seal a return for the ‘genius‘ in January due to his contract situation, but only time will tell whether this move comes to fruition.
