'More than confident' - NCSL make big claim after PL's Newcastle takeover admission
The Newcastle Consortium Supporters Ltd (NCSL) have tweeted just how confident they are that the next step in the legal battle over the proposed takeover of Newcastle United by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) consortium will succeed.
This was in response to The Shields Gazette reporting that the Premier League officially admitted in a letter to the NCSL that they are in a legal dispute with the St. James’ Park faithful over the failed £300m deal between Mike Ashley and the consortium.
The news outlet goes on to add that, according to sources, that represents an alleged breach of confidentiality for the Tyneside club on behalf of the English top flight, with both parties said to be bound by privacy on the matter now that the case is actually running.
The confirmation is understood to have angered several people close to the deal, as England’s highest division have refused to comment on the situation at hand.
Nonetheless, the NCSL have tweeted their response to the actions of the EPL, claiming that they are ‘more than confident’ in the outcome as a result of their action, although Luke Edwards has since claimed that the group could struggle to prove they were directly damaged by the failed takeover.
The EPL released contents of their letter and “confidence” over a legal dispute with a fans group. We, as fans, are more than confident in the outcome of this action. Why gesture against our actions & stress your intent to slow this down! Let a court decide!#nufc #nufctakover https://t.co/Iq54GUgJLj

Will the takeover dispute be taken to court?
Indeed, this ongoing dispute over the failed takeover in the North East may well end up in a court case between the Premier League and the Magpies if it cannot be settled outside of it.
Who would win that legal battle is anyone’s guess, but the NCSL have already expressed their confidence in the possible outcome, which may well be good news for members of the Toon Army.
