Former Tottenham striker Darren Bent believes Celtic can “easily” secure the permanent services of Mohamed Elyounoussi in January.
Elyounoussi Bhoys bound
The 26-year-old has been impressive for the Bhoys, who is into his second season at Parkhead and has scored 17 goals and provided 10 assists in 38 appearances (TransferMarkt).
As a result of this, Elyounoussi has gained a lot of fans along the way, including from BBC Sport correspondent Tom English, who described him as “excellent” and a “very dangerous” player (cited by This is Futbol).
With his parent club sitting in fourth in the Premier League table, Bent told Football Insider that this deal could be done without any unnecessary complications, following reports last week that suggested the Hoops may have to pay between £8m-£10m for his permanent transfer.
“It could be a deal that gets done quite easily,” he said. “To sell him, that might be the best thing to do.”
“Southampton are absolutely flying at the minute, I really like the stuff that they’re doing down there at Southampton and I have done for a number of years now.
“They’ve always impressed me the way they do business Southampton. They go about with a bit of class. They always seem to produce all these very good players and sell them a lot of money.
“It wouldn’t surprise me if they sell him for a profit and make a little bit of money. The way Southampton are going at the minute, I’d probably look to sell.”

If Southampton are willing to part ways, then Celtic should grasp both hands on this opportunity and secure the Norway international’s future in Glasgow.
His hat-trick at Motherwell before the international break pleased Neil Lennon greatly, which should be a significant factor in terms of deciding to keep hold of him.
The more goals he scores, the higher the Saints could potentially hike up the price so it’s potentially important that an agreement can be made sooner rather than later.
