'Giving the manager a headache' - Gers hero tips Gerrard to 'cut ties' with controversial ace
Alan Hutton has urged Glasgow Rangers to sell Jordan Jones during the January transfer window.
Jones should be sold
Jones has been in the news for all the wrong reasons in recent weeks. Along with George Edmundson, he was found to have broken coronavirus regulations by attending a private gathering. This forced the 54-time Scottish champions to launch an investigation into the duo.
Speaking to Football Insider, former Gers star Hutton believes that he should be sold during the next window. He said:
“Yeah, of course it will be. Any money coming in, that will cover the wages that they’ve laid out over the season and it’ll probably still be a profit.
“Of course they’ll take the money, they’ll maybe see he’s dropped back down now, there’ll be a few players in front of him so they might not need him now.
“Because of the off-field issues and problems, you’re just giving the manager a headache that he doesn’t need. They’ll probably just cut ties and move on.”
On the brink
Even though we are just three months into the new campaign, Jones has already experienced plenty of ups and downs. He was reportedly told that he could depart during the summer, but stayed, and appeared to be working his way back into Steven Gerrard’s plans after starting and scoring against Motherwell.
However, his behaviour recently has set him back once again. He was given an opportunity and appears to have blown it. One does feel that if an acceptable offer comes in then the Gers will be eager to move the 26 year-old on.
In other news, Rangers were “so close” to signing this Serie A ace.
