Many Aston Villa fans are buzzing after hearing the latest comments from defender Ahmed Elmohamady. The player is seen more as squad depth than a sure starter these days, but he clearly loves the club as he revealed that he is happy to stay at Villa Park.
According to Egyptian outlet @King_Fut, via @villareport, Elmohamady said: “I had offers at the start of the season but Aston Villa refused to let me go. I also refused because I wanted to stay with the team. Aston Villa is a historic team in England and I’m happy to be part of this club.”
The 33 year-old was signed by former Villa manager Steve Bruce back in 2017 (Transfermarkt) and has been called a ‘model professional’ by one fan.
It is understandable to see him receive such praise not just for his comments but also due to the fact that that he has made over 100 appearances for the club, scoring four goals and assisting 18 (Transfermarkt).
The Egyptian enjoying the club so much emphasises how good the set up is and him wanting to stay benefits all parties – Dean Smith will know he can count on the veteran to step in whenever needed.
