“Back today” – Jurgen Klopp provides encouraging update on absent Liverpool star
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that superstar Mohamed Salah is due to return to Anfield today.
Salah returns home
The Reds forward tested positive for coronavirus in Egypt last week while on international duty, which the Egyptian FA confirmed.
Salah has been in self-isolation since last Friday and has not complained about any severe symptoms.
He started this season with a bang once again and has scored 10 goals in 13 appearances in all competitions (TransferMarkt).
With Leicester due to arrive at Anfield in fine form and with Liverpool’s injury crisis mounting, the German tactician had some good news for the supporters.
Speaking during his pre-match press conference (cited by Anfield Watch), Klopp revealed some encouraging news regarding Salah.
“He is probably back today,” he said. “I’ve been in close contact with him. When you have a negative test the process really starts. He has had no symptoms. He is in a good place. I have nothing to say in public about the situation.”
Transfer Tavern take
This will be a huge boost for the fans after what has been a terrible few weeks in terms of injuries, with the number of games and lack of recovery time taking their toll.
Klopp was understandably upbeat to have one of his star players unscathed from international duty, but it is still unlikely that he will feature on Sunday.
While the manager has a headache in terms of sorting out in his defence, he will be left reassured that his team are still firing at the other end of the pitch.
In other news, Liverpool on red alert after transfer revelation regarding highly-rated defender.
