Sports‘Very unfair’ - Jose Mourinho aims UEFA dig at ‘difficult’ rule which could affect Tottenham
Speaking in his press conference ahead of Tottenham’s Europa League group stage encounter with LASK tonight, coming after the Lilywhites threw away a three-goal lead against West Ham at the weekend, manager Jose Mourinho has voiced his concern to UEFA about one thing.
Spurs will be aiming to make amends for their unlikely 3-3 draw by getting straight back to winning ways against the Austrian minnows, with Mourinho having all of his pick of players to choose from, bar Japhet Tanganga and Eric Dier.

As the tie approaches, the Portuguese boss has taken aim at one rule – that Champions League group stage third-placed teams can drop down into the Europa League knockout stages.
Voicing his concern to the press, via football.london, Mourinho blasted the issue as ‘very unfair’ and a potentially ‘difficult’ roadblock to overcome past the group phase.
The Tottenham manager, when asked if his side could go on and clinch Europa League glory, claimed it would be a hard task – partly down to that UEFA rule which makes the knockout rounds even trickier coupled with a large number of games.

He may be correct in his verdict, especially as Mourinho went on to justify it by pointing out that there is no safety cushion if you finish third in your Europa League group.
This aspect of the competition, introduced by the governing body some time ago, is one Mourinho clearly isn’t a fan of – but Spurs will be looking to jump that potential hurdle and deliver silverware for their fans after a brilliant summer transfer window.
Indeed, with the ‘super seven’ having arrived, including a late swoop for Joe Rodon, Tottenham could have the strength in depth to go all the way.
