SportsReport: Everton star branded 'a fantastic example' by Ancelotti is a major doubt for Southampton
Seamus Coleman has emerged as a major injury doubt for Everton’s Premier League game against Southampton, per the Liverpool Echo.
The Ireland international was forced off in the Merseyside derby against Liverpool with a hamstring injury and was replaced by Ben Godfrey after just over half an hour.
The Goodison Park faithful have yet to give any detailed update on the fitness of Coleman, simply saying that his scheduled return is unknown at this particular point in time.
However, given the nature of the injury that the 32-year old sustained in the derby, he is a serious doubt for Sunday’s match versus the Saints.
Coleman is ‘a fantastic example’
Indeed, Coleman has been branded as ‘a fantastic example’ by Carlo Ancelotti, no less so as he is the captain of the Toffees.
Thus, his leadership qualities, both off of the pitch as well as on it, could perhaps be greatly missed by the Blues as they try and tackle a tough away fixture at St. Mary’s Stadium.
Coleman has been great so far this term
In the five matches that Coleman has played in the top flight so far in the 2020/21 term, he has won a rather impressive 4.4 of his duels per game, in addition to averaging two tackles, two clearances and 1.2 successful dribbles a match (Sofascore).
Indeed, the right-back has helped EFC to the top of England’s highest division and also reach the Carabao Cup quarter-final, where they will play Manchester United at home for a place in the semis.
