Chelsea and Manchester United-linked ace trains with Gers ahead of Europa League clash

Glasgow Rangers youngster Leon King trained with Steven Gerrard’s first-team squad ahead of the 54-time Scottish champions’ Europa League clash against Standard Liege.

King trains with seniors

Gerrard has previously hit out at “egos” in the Rangers academy, but it seems he is still ready to give chances to the club’s youngsters.

King is only 16-years-old, yet he has clearly already done enough to earn himself this huge opportunity. The defender is highly thought of – he has previously been linked with the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United, whilst Arsenal, Liverpool and Leicester have also all been mentioned as potential destinations.

Gerrard thinking about the future

This is a huge season for Gerrard – he must surely win some silverware. He has already gone two campaigns without winning a trophy, and it is unlikely he would last a third without some sort of success at the end of the term. It has been an impressive start to the season, with the 54-time Scottish champions currently sitting top of the Premiership table. They have also not lost a game in all competitions – they will surely never get a better chance to stand on the top step of the podium.

As such, you would forgive the former Liverpool captain for planning only for the here and now. However, the inclusion of the likes of King at training suggests that he has one eye on the future as well. That can only be good for everyone involved at Ibrox – Gerrard may just be here for the long haul.

In other news, Gers fans slam criticism of this star man. Let us know what you think in the comments!
