SportsReport: Everton eyeing loan swoop for £22.8m-valued ace winning 5.4 duels a game
Everton are reportedly interested in a loan move for FC Barcelona ace Jean-Clair Todibo, according to L’Equipe (via The Gwladys Street).
However, as per the French news outlet, fellow Premier League rivals Fulham have made a bid of €15 million, which is the equivalent of around £13.7 million, for his services.
Nonetheless, the Catalan giants are looking for a fee closer to €25 million, which equates to roughly £22.8 million, but may be willing to sell for €20 million (£18.2 million).
Carlo Ancelotti’s team are only interested in a deal that would take him on loan at Goodison Park for the rest of the 2020/21 term.
Indeed, Todibo could provide some much-needed cover in the centre-back area for the likes of Mason Holgate, Michael Keane and Yerry Mina if one or more of them got injured or suspended for a sustained period of time.
The 20-year old won a relatively impressive 5.4 duels a game while on loan at FC Schalke 04 in the Bundesliga in the 2019/20 season, and also averaged 2.6 clearances, 1.9 interceptions and 1.9 tackles a match (per Sofascore).
There is a question mark as to whether Todibo can adapt to the English game, but if he is able to find his feet, he may well turn out to be a valuable asset to the Toffees.
Nevertheless, they may have to fight off Scott Parker’s side to get his signature over the dotted line before the summer window shuts, but with three wins out of three in the top flight and a Carabao Cup quarter-final booked already so far, perhaps Todibo will not need too much persuasion.
