"Isn't good enough" - Many Villa fans slam 22 y/o man who will "never be Premier League quality"
Plenty of Aston Villa fans have waded in to voice their criticism towards striker Keinan Davis following their side’s 1-0 defeat at the hands of Stoke City in the Carabao Cup last night.
The Villains were sent packing from the competition at the expense of lower league opposition, after what was a forgetful night of football as far as Dean Smith’s side were concerned.
Davis came into the fold to make only his second start of the season and was given the chance to impress. But unfortunately, it was not to be.
Per Sofascore, the 22-year-old was given a match rating of just 6.3, the lowest from the starting eleven. This was because he failed to register a shot on target and lost all of his aerial duels during the 90 minutes.
Valued at £2.07m by TransferMarkt, Davis has been at Villa since December 2015 and played a considerable amount of football last season. But having failed to get on the scoresheet in the Premier League, Davis has found himself fall down the pecking order, especially after the signing of Ollie Watkins from Brentford.
Unsurprisingly, supporters were not impressed with Davis’ outing and rushed to Twitter to make their feelings heard:
I think we need a cb and a striker , Davis isnt a goalscorer , Lansbury is a poor player , Hause just has confidence problems and Engels has hardly featured #avfc

Was big chance for Davis to shine. He did not. Good enough? #avfc

Thoroughly disappointing to miss out on a quarter-final. But it also exposes the fact we still need another striker and a central defender, urgently. Hause and Davis will never be Premier League quality. We are very thin in those areas, especially when 4 strikers have left. #avfc

Davis was bullied by a 19 and 20 yr old tonight. We need another striker. Ideally think he should go out on loan but dont see it happening #avfc

Lansbury, El Ghazi, Taylor and Hause all need to go. Davis needs to go out on loan and learn to score some goals. Traore needs to run some more laps. Has nothing in Trezeguet in terms of off-the-ball workrate and tracking back. Shocking performance and embarrassing. #avfc #scfc

We need a striker. Davis showed why he just isn’t good enough tonight. Watkins has too much pressure to score goals which isn’t healthy and if he gets injured we are in deep poo. #avfc
