Gerrard provides worrying injury news on key Rangers duo ahead of Kilmarnock clash
Steven Gerrard has revealed that Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Jack both picked up kicks during Thursday night’s win over Lech Poznan in the Europa League ahead of Sunday’s trip to Kilmarnock.
Gerrard provides injury blow
The ‘Gers beat their Polish opponents 1-0 in European competition on Thursday, with Morelos scoring the only goal of the game.
Both Jack and the Colombia international were introduced from the bench, and Gerrard has now revealed that both picked up knocks during the clash. He said:
“Alfredo Morelos took a kick and Ryan Jack did as well. We will take a look this morning but nothing too serious hopefully.”
“We have to move on very quickly and focus on a big game at Rugby Park, we will go there and give it our best.”
Squad depth will come in handy
This is far from good news for Gerrard. Given that both players started on the bench last night, you would assume that they were in line to be given the nod at Rugby Park, especially after Morelos returned to scoring ways with the only goal of the game. If the duo could not play against Killie, they would be missed by Gerrard’s side.
However, the good news is that the 54-time Scottish champions have the squad depth to cushion the blow. Steven Davis and Scott Arfield have plenty of experience, whilst Joe Aribo was also among the substitutes against Poznan. It is essential to have a strong squad in a season such as this when the games come thicker and faster than normal – hopefully, others can do the job if Jack and Morelos are unavailable this weekend.
In other news, Rangers fans are unhappy with this new signing’s latest comments.
