Robson-Kanu comes in among 3 changes by Bilic: West Brom predicted XI v Huddersfield [Opinion]

West Brom will seek to return to winning ways this evening when they travel to Huddersfield, with two consecutive draws leaving them sweating on their hopes of automatic promotion.

Brentford’s relentless winning run has left them just one point behind the Baggies, who as it stands need to win both of their remaining matches to be assured of a top two finish. However, three points against the relegation-threatened Terriers, winless in four games, would leave the Bees needing a result at Stoke tomorrow to take the chase for automatic promotion to the final day.

As per WhoScored, West Brom manager Slaven Bilic has no fresh injury concerns for the trip to the John Smith’s Stadium, with Kieran Gibbs remaining sidelined. The manager could change things up, though, having hit out at a schedule which today sees them playing their fifth match in just 13 days.

With that in mind, we anticipate three changes to his starting line-up from the team that began the 0-0 draw at Fulham on Tuesday:

West Brom predicted XI v Huddersfield

Sam Johnstone is just 180 minutes away from completing an ever-present Championship season and will continue between the sticks. Bilic also looks set to preserve the full-back duo of Conor Townsend and Dara O’Shea, while he could also maintain the centre-back pairing of Ahmed Hegazi and Semi Ajayi from the midweek draw against Fulham.

There may be a change to the defensive midfield duo, though, with Jake Livermore in and out of the team of late. Having played the full match on Tuesday, the ex-Tottenham man could be rested in favour of Rekeem Harper, with the manager’s favourite Romaine Sawyers in line for yet another start post-lockdown.

Bilic could also change things around in the attacking midfield three. Kamil Grosicki was substituted at half-time in midweek after an ineffective display and he could miss out here, with Grady Diangana reverting to the left wing in his place. The on-loan winger’s slot on the right could be filled by the ever-dangerous Matheus Pereira, who moves over from his central role that may be given to the returning Filip Krovinovic – the Croatian should be fresh after only making a stoppage time cameo appearance against the Cottagers.

Charlie Austin has started the last five matches at centre-forward but has now gone three games without a goal, which may see Bilic restore Hal Robson-Kanu to the starting line-up. The Welshman has had to rely on substitute appearances of late but, with 10 goals to his name this season, his manager knows that he can be trusted to pop up with vital contributions.

Once again, the choice of options available to Bilic is plentiful – it’s just a matter of him deciding whether he needs to switch things up (and to what extent) given West Brom’s unrelenting fixture schedule.
