Report: Gers make contact with agent of £4.05m-valued former target

As per The Glasgow Evening Times, Glasgow Rangers are interested in Grady Diangana.

The winger is currently on loan at West Bromwich Albion in the Championship from West Ham United.

Celtic are said to be interested in the 22-year-old, but the Gers are now ready to do battle with their fierce city rivals for the youngster. The Ibrox outfit are said to have made contact with the player’s representatives, and were even close to signing him last summer before he made his most recent switch.

This has been something of a breakout campaign for the one-time England U21 international. He has appeared in 28 matches in the league for the Baggies, scoring an impressive seven goals and providing six assists, and he has played an important part in the club’s attempts to earn promotion to the top tier – they are currently in second place in the division and in the automatic promotion spots.

Diangana is currently valued at £4.05m by Transfermarkt, and if the Hawthorns outfit are promoted to the Premier League they may well be interested in signing him permanently. With a contract until 2025, the Hammers are under no pressure to sell and, as such, they are in a position to demand an acceptable fee for one of their young talents.

As such, this could well be a difficult one for Ross Wilson and Steven Gerrard to complete. It does at least show they have the ambition to fight Celtic not just on the pitch, but off it as well.
