'My manager', 'Appalling' - Recent Garry Monk comments divide these SWFC fans
Sheffield Wednesday would have been underdogs for the Championship fixture on the weekend against Fulham, and they perhaps put up a better fight than the promotion battling side were expecting as the Owls lost 5-3. Manager Garry Monk was speaking about the game and a lot of fans are reacting to his comments.
BBC Yorkshire journalist Rob Staton posted a clip of the manager’s thoughts after the game and also tweeted a quote from Monk as he said: “The time for talking is done. The transition’s coming and there’ll be personnel changes.”
Monk became manager in September 2019 and has managed 43 games for Wednesday. This quote from him highlights that there could be a big reshuffle in the summer, but also the fact that now he has basically had a season under his belt, he is going to be much stricter with who he wants at the club.
This has caused debate amongst the fan base, with some hoping he goes as the club sit 16th in the Championship with only one game left to play, but some believe he deserves more time.
There will be a lot of pressure on the manager next season as it will be his second in charge and if he doesn’t start picking up results early on, he might struggle to get the fans back on his side.
Here is what fans said following the news:

Football teams and managers are judged, ultimately, by points gained. Since Christmas, we have bagged 17 points from a possible 66. Appalling both on and off the pitch, compounded by both Monk and the players knowing of a likely points deduction since November!

Didn’t he say this 6 months ago after Wigan ?

People can blame monk all they want. Like all other manager in football he makes mistakes.. however he doesn’t cause the mistakes they make and he certainly didn’t cause a week and bloated squad. Its years of work this. No job worth doing is easy or enjoyable throughout #SWFC
