'In limbo' - Ian Dennis makes Newcastle takeover claim as Premier League news breaks

Ian Dennis has made a claim about the proposed takeover of Newcastle United as the Premier League Shareholders announced the new dates for the upcoming summer transfer window.

As per the official website of the top flight, the window will be open for an elongated 10 weeks following the global pandemic outbreak that swept across the footballing world.

It will start at the end of the current 2019/20 season in England’s highest division, and will run from the 27th July before slamming shut on the 5th October.

In addition, following a discussion with the English Football League (EFL), a domestic-only window will be added from the 5th October, closing at 5 p.m BST 11 days later.

During this period, clubs from the Premier League will only be able to trade with teams from the EFL in the form of loans or permanent deals.

However, no transfers can take place between sides in the top flight in this particular window, and all the following proposals are subject to the approval of FIFA.

Indeed, there could be some major complications if the final decision on the proposed takeover of the Tyneside club is not made by the time that the window officially opens, with Dennis even claiming that the Magpies are ‘in limbo’ because of it.

The Toon may not know how to approach the market, as they would surely be more ambitious if more money was potentially available for them to spend, but they will not know this until a decision is made.

Nevertheless, an official announcement will surely need to be made before the official window opens so that NUFC know how to approach potential transfers.

Geordies, would you call for a squad overhaul if the bid goes through? Comment below!
