'Don't need Thiago', 'Another Coutinho' – Many LFC fans drool as player footage emerges
Youngster Curtis Jones was given his first Premier League start as Liverpool hosted Burnley at Anfield on Saturday.
Despite getting themselves ahead in the first half through Andy Robertson, the Clarets were able to find an equaliser in the 69th minute. Jay Rodriguez’s goal was enough to nick a point for his side and break Liverpool’s perfect home record this season.
Jones enjoyed a long run out on the pitch before he was replaced by Naby Keita in the second half. According to FotMob, the 19-year-old made the most tackles (2) out of the whole match. The teen also enjoyed 89% passing accuracy and successfully completed two out of three attempted dribbles (via Sofascore).
Jones is quickly becoming a valued first team player, he has netted three senior goals this season including a vital winner over Everton in the FA Cup (via Transfermarkt).
The official Liverpool Twitter has posted his highlights from the Burnley game and fans are filling the comments with positive replies. One supporter has said they ‘don’t need Thiago’ as they have a bright young talent emerging without spending money. The Reds are currently linked to Bayern Munich’s Thiago Alcantara ahead of the summer window.

Another Kopite has likened the youngster to former Red by tweeting he is ‘another Coutinho’ as they praise his ability to get in the box and create chances. Coutinho had a superb career with Liverpool, scoring 54 goals and assisting 45 (via Transfermarkt).

Vision ✅
Confidence ✅
Hunger for ball✅
Skills in tight place ✅
Work rate ✅.I’ll pick Curtis Jones in my midfield ahead of Wijnadum, Chamberlain, Milner Tbh. Dude needs currently is a better baller than them, imagine what he becomes when given 10 straight starts.
