SportsDean Smith to keep faith with 1-goal forward: Aston Villa predicted XI v Everton [Opinion]
Aston Villa boss Dean Smith is unlikely to make any changes to his starting XI against Everton this evening.
The Midlands outfit picked up a superb win against Crystal Palace at the weekend, securing an important three points as they battle with West Ham United, Watford and Bournemouth for Premier League survival.
Heading into the game against Everton, a win will be the priority and they face a side who have been indifferent over the last couple of weeks, losing 3-0 to Wolves at the weekend.
Pepe Reina has replaced Orjan Nyland recently and it is expected that he will keep his place in Smith’s side, whilst Tyrone Mings and Ezri Konsa are expected to remain together as the centre-back partnership.
At right-back, Ahmed Elmohamady is expected to continue after a good display against Palace (in which he made three key passes) and Neil Taylor is expected to remain on the left-hand side of defence, having stood in for Matt Targett, who is out injured at the present time.
The midfield trio of John McGinn, Conor Hourihane and Douglas Luiz is likely to remain the same, meaning that Jack Grealish will continue to play in a free role, attacking mainly from the left side.
Trezeguet, who scored twice against Crystal Palace, will continue on the right hand side and Mbwana Samatta could be in from the start despite scoring just once for Aston Villa, that goal coming on his league debut back in February, as he has retained the faith of Smith ever since, as per Transfermarkt.
