'Looks far more likely to pass PL tests' - Pete Graves gives positive Newcastle takeover update

Pete Graves has suggested that the proposed takeover of Newcastle United will still go through after he reacted to the report released by the World Trade Organisation (WTO) that focused on Saudi Arabia’s protection of intellectual property rights, giving his thoughts on his official Twitter page.

Indeed, the Sky Sports man still thinks that the prospective deal between Amanda Staveley’s Saudi Arabian-led consortium and current club owner Mike Ashley “looks far more likely to pass PL tests” as opposed to failing them.

The journalist is, of course, referring to the owners’ and directors’ tests that have been set out by the English top flight to make sure that the would-be owners on the buying side of the £300m bid are fit and proper.

The buyers consist of businesswoman and head of PCP Capital Partners Staveley as well as Saudi Arabian crown prince Mohammed bin Salman and his country’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) in addition to the Reuben brothers, who are billionaires that are based in London.

Despite the rulings of the WTO in their report, which stated that Saudi Arabia breached their own rules with regards to piracy as accused by Qatar, the findings themselves did not actually mention the takeover at St. James’ Park.

Graves seems to have taken all of this into account in his tweet and thus still believes that the takeover will go through, which should encourage members of the Toon faithful.

However, it is still anyone’s guess as to whether or not the WTO findings will ultimately affect the Premier League’s final decision.

Geordies, do you share Graves’ optimism about the fate of the proposed takeover? Comment below with your views!
