NUFC 'preparing' £67.7m bid for 'extraordinary' ace with eight goal contributions this season

Newcastle United are reportedly ‘preparing’ a bid of £67.7m to try and sign Luis Diaz.

The Lowdown: Diaz on fire

Diaz has been on fire so far this season, with eight goal contributions in total in 11 games over all competitions (Transfermarkt).

His teammate at FC Porto Sergio Oliveira has recently described him as an ‘extraordinary’ player, after a very impressive performance in the UEFA Champions League against AC Milan.

The Latest: Bid prepared

As per Sport TV, the St. James’ Park faithful will be ‘preparing’ an offer of €80m (£67.7m) to bring Diaz to the North East.

The player’s contract runs to 2024, putting his current employers in a fairly strong negotiating position.

The Verdict: At all costs

Money is no object to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) consortium, and there will no doubt be big clubs in Europe circling around to try to get Diaz’s signature.

Thus, the new owners need to make sure that they are the first to swoop in and bring him to Tyneside.

He has already showed his credentials this campaign, and at just 24 years of age, the Colombia international will only get better.

The one problem that the Magpies may face is that they are currently in a relegation battle at the moment, and so negotiating with the player to find a suitable deal in the January transfer window will be so key in getting one over the line.
