Sports'Chansiri thinks’ - Nixon reveals why there's currently no end in sight for SWFC manager hunt
The Sun’s Alan Nixon recently took to Twitter to issue an update on Sheffield Wednesday owner and chairman Dejphon Chansiri’s hunt for a new permanent Owls manager.
Wednesday’s academy manager Neil Thompson is currently in charge of the first-team in a caretaker role, following the sacking of Tony Pulis in late-December.
No appointment is seemingly imminent at Sheffield Wednesday
Judging by what Nixon has said, fans of the Yorkshire club may have to wait a while longer to welcome a new permanent manager to Hillsborough, as the journalist has claimed that due to the Owls’ positive form, with the club winning both of their Championship games so far under Thompson, ‘Chansiri thinks’ there is no rush to bring in a new boss.
As a result, the Owls chairman is ‘slowly’ going through the process of appointing the club’s next manager.
Is this a wise move from Chansiri?
Considering that Pulis was sacked just over a month into his reign as Owls boss, with Chansiri admitting in a recent press conference that appointing the 62-year-old was a mistake, perhaps it would be wise of the Thai businessman to take his time and think through his decision carefully before committing to appointing a new manager.
Additionally, given that the team have been winning in the Championship under caretaker boss Thompson, maybe an ‘if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it’ approach is the right one to take with the Yorkshire club in a relegation-battle at present.
With that in mind, we feel that this mightn’t be a bad move from Chansiri, however, with it also having been claimed that the club are likely to appoint a new manager before making any signings in this month’s transfer window, maybe this approach from Chansiri will ultimately prove to have a detrimental effect on the Owls’ transfer business.
