Celtic set to face major backlash after seismic Dubai-related developments
Celtic Football Club could be about to face criticism like never before after one of Neil Lennon’s players tested positive for coronavirus.
Celtic under the cosh
The club confirmed yesterday that an unnamed Bhoys player has contracted the virus that has transformed the world, both socially and economically.
This comes off the back of Celtic’s controversial trip to Dubai that Scotland’s First Minister Nicola Sturgeon publically stated she would investigate.
Assistant manager John Kennedy said Celtic were guilty of “minor slip-ups” in terms of following the regulations during their stay in the Middle East.
The club said in a statement: “The player will receive all our care and full support. All other members of our squad, management team and the backroom squad are negative.”
Transfer Tavern Verdict
The fact that a player has now tested positive after the club admitted that players and staff broke regulations, is not a good look at all for the Hoops.
This is a seriously embarrassing moment for Celtic – as if their 2020/21 campaign wasn’t bad enough already.
Celtic will now have to brace themselves for the scrutiny that will undoubtedly head their way, which could lead to Sturgeon getting involved once more.
With Celtic under huge pressure to bridge the 22-point gap to Rangers, this is the absolute last thing the club needed.
