'Would've set the standards for the likes of Messi': Many RFC fans react to 'genius' recognition
Glasgow Rangers have had some truly wonderful players down the years, and Davie Cooper is certainly one of them.
The 22-time Scotland international made no less than 552 appearances for the Gers across a 12-year spell, scoring 79 goals in the process. His time brought a whole host of trophies, including three Premiership titles, three Scottish Cups and a huge seven Scottish League Cups. Whilst he may not be the biggest name, ask anyone associated with the Ibrox outfit, and even within the Scottish game, and most will tell you he is one of the greatest players to appear north of the border.
After leaving the 54-time Scottish champions in 1989, he moved to Motherwell, where he spent four years. On Monday, he was entered into the ‘Well’s Hall of Fame, and this gave the Gers fans the chance to reminisce about Cooper once more.
Let’s see what the fans had to say about Cooper below
Easily one of the best players to play in the UK and Europe. No doubt if he had went to a team like Barcelona he would be the player that would’ve set the standards for the likes of Messi and Ronaldinho.
