Report: Levy plots January transfer move to succeed where he failed in the summer
According to a report from Football Insider, Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is plotting his next move in January – with an inside Spurs source informing them that a new centre-back could be on the cards after failing to secure the likes of Milan Skriniar and Antonio Rudiger.
Despite a blockbuster summer of deals, including a sensational club return for Gareth Bale, Levy may not be finished there as he reportedly ponders swooping for a centre-back in January.
Levy plots next move
Tottenham secured the super seven in what was a summer to remember, with the likes of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Joe Hart, Matt Doherty, Sergio Reguilon, Gareth Bale, Carlos Vinicius and Joe Rodon coming through the door.
Now, as per Football Insider, Levy’s next move could be to bring in a new defender – coming just over a month after swooped for Rodon during the EFL bonus window.
The Lilywhites attempted swoops for the likes of Milan Skriniar and Antonio Rudiger before the October 5 deadline, but Levy and co failed to finalise those potential deals, showing they wanted an experienced and established option, not just one for the future in Rodon.
Both Spurs and Inter Milan couldn’t manage to come to terms over valuation, with the two clubs apparently miles apart, while Rudiger refused the deadline day switch.
This eventually lead to Rodon being prioritised in the bonus window, but now this Football Insider report claims Levy could return for a new defender in January depending on how the next few fixtures pan out.
Transfer Tavern take
Tottenham will also be looking to offload a few key players to balance the books, with defender Davinson Sanchez emerging as a nominee for the chopping block.
Time will tell whether this potential transfer plan comes to fruition, but it may be an exciting one for Spurs fans if they manage to land a new centre-back in the winter window.
