Southampton midfielder Oriol Romeu has signed a new contract with the club that will keep him at St. Mary’s Stadium until 2023.
The 29-year-old made the move to the south coast in 2015, with the Saints paying £5m to Chelsea for the Spaniard. Since then, he has made 198 appearances for the club, playing at least 29 times in every single Premier League campaign during that time.
Now, he has committed his future to the Saints for an extra two-and-a-half years, meaning he will remain with them for three more years overall. This comes at a fantastic time for Ralph Hasenhuttl and co, with them currently sitting fourth in the Premier League after winning five of their first eight matches.
This news has attracted plenty of attention from the Gers supporters, and it is fair to say they are absolutely delighted with the news. They took to Twitter to share their thoughts.
