Not Calvert-Lewin: 'Clever' Everton star who won 5 duels was Ancelotti's 'tiger' vs Fulham

Although Dominic Calvert-Lewin will take most of the headlines for scoring two goals for Everton versus Fulham in their 3-2 win in the Premier League, Martin Keown picked out Allan as one of Carlo Ancelotti’s star players on the day.

During commentary on the game for the BBC, the former Toffees central defender was in awe of the Brazil international, as a few minutes into the second half at Craven Cottage, Keown described him as ‘strong’ and ‘clever’ and even went as far to say that he was playing like a ‘tiger’.

Allan impressed for Everton

Indeed, Allan was one of several impressive performers for the Goodison Park faithful against Scott Parker’s team.

The defensive midfield player was crucial in his side holding on to their lead until the final whistle, as he won no fewer than five of his duels and also made three tackles, two clearances and two interceptions (Sofascore).

He was also crucial in making things tick going forward for the Merseyside club, recording the third highest amount of touches out of his teammates with 68 and achieving an 82% pass accuracy (Sofascore).

Indeed, his display was a timely reminder to the Blues as to why they bought the 29-year old in from Napoli in the summer transfer window, and Keown’s praise is supported by some impressive numbers.
