Marcelo Bielsa confirms injury blow for ‘unreal’ Leeds star
Leeds United midfielder Pablo Hernandez has not had the best time as of late with the club. He wasn’t happy with his substitution against Leicester, and was then left out of the match day squad against Crystal Palace.
It gets worse for the Spaniard as Marcelo Bielsa has confirmed that he is unavailable for the upcoming fixture against Arsenal.
Bielsa provides Hernandez update
Bielsa said: “We have added Pablo to the injury list as he picked up a muscular injury this week. Nothing serious but he won’t be able to play this weekend.”
This is a big blow for Leeds
Hernandez has had a great spell at Leeds. The Spaniard has 36 goals and 39 assists for the club, but he is now 35, so he’s close to the end of his career and must be managed carefully.
No matter his age, he seems to be maturing like a fine wine and he still gives Leeds a great creative threat when fit. Phil Hay raved over the midfielder last season, as he said: ‘The guy is just unreal. Played like a demon since the restart.’
It is understandable why Hay sees him as a key threat, as he shone in Leeds’ promotion season last campaign. Hernandez scored nine goals and picked up nine assists (WhoScored). He also managed on average 2.1 shots, 2.3 key passes and 1.1 successful dribbles per game.
The fact that he is unavailable to start or even come off the bench will definitely be a big blow to Bielsa’s hopes against the Gunners.
