Lost possession 13 times, 0 tackles: Newcastle ace deemed worst of the lot vs Chelsea

Javier Manquillo has been deemed the worst player on the pitch based on his statistics as Newcastle United lost 2-0 to Chelsea in the Premier League at St. James’ Park.

Frank Lampard’s team took the lead every early on in the first half through an own goal from Federico Fernandez after great work by Mason Mount, and then the Blues extended their lead in the second half through Tammy Abraham with Timo Werner getting the assist.

There were very few performances by players in black and white stripes that warranted any sort of merit on the day, but it was the display of Manquillo that was deemed the worst of a bad bunch by Sofascore, as they gave him the lowest rating out of anyone on the pitch (6.0).

Manquillo was poor for Newcastle

Indeed, Manquillo was pretty poor for the Tyneside club, so much so that he was substituted by Steve Bruce in the 65th minute for Miguel Almiron.

The 26 year-old lost possession of the ball no fewer than 13 times, which was the third highest amount out of his teammates, considering also that the only ones who surpassed him in Jacob Murphy and Jamal Lewis played for the whole game.

The right-back also failed to make a single tackle, interception or accurate cross (Sofascore) in what was overall a rather dismal display for a wing back.
