'Exactly the right attitude' - Manager praises 'superb' Gers star amid tough situation
Romania U21 manager Adrian Mutu has praised the attitude of Glasgow Ranger star Ianis Hagi after he was demoted to the youth set-up.
Mutu praises Hagi
After publicly criticising Romania manager Mirel Radoi, Hagi was taken out of the senior squad and was sent to development side instead.
Former Chelsea player Mutu has clearly been impressed with the way he has reacted to the punishment, though. He said:
“Ianis Hagi is a super, professional footballer.
“I have nothing bad to say about him, he came here back to the Under 21s squad with exactly the right attitude.
“He’s trained very well. He’s not under any special pressure to perform because we all know what we get from him.
“He is part of this team. The important thing for me is that he is enjoying his football here in the camp and at Rangers.
“He has the ability and skill to make the difference in any match he plays.”
Hopefully learned his lesson
Hagi has had a decent start to the new campaign, racking us eight assists in 16 games for the Gers. However, being demoted will have now doubt been a big set-back for the youngster, and hopefully he has learned his lesson. Whilst there is no issue with constructive criticism, it is not something he should be doing in public.
He is still on 22 – these are the kind of things that should be quickly moved on from. Steven Gerrard and indeed Radoi will be hoping he can put it behind him and perform to his best for the rest of the campaign.
In other news, Darren Bent has urged Rangers to give a new deal to this man.
