SportsReport: Celtic dealt big blow in pursuit of Spurs ace as Fabrizio Romano gives transfer update
Fabrizio Romano has dealt a rather big blow to the chances of Celtic signing Tottenham Hotspur ace Ryan Sessegnon, as he has revealed that he will sign for TSG Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga on loan for the rest of the 2020/21 term.
According to a tweet from the football journalist and transfer guru, discussions are ongoing between both clubs to complete the deal before the summer window officially shuts.

Indeed, the Celtic Park outfit were reportedly interested in signing Sessegnon themselves, as they had made an approach to Spurs to sign the England U21 international.
Sessegnon is vastly experienced at the highest level despite being just 20 years of age still, racking up a total of 41 games in the Premier League for both the Lilywhites and Fulham, scoring two goals and making a further six assists, as per Transfermarkt.
The full-back also played in three of THFC’s UEFA Champions League matches in the 2019/20 season, and thus could have aided the Hoops in their European campaign in the Europa League in this campaign.
However, it now looks as if the Hoops will miss out on the signing of Sessegnon with him on his way to Germany according to Romano, and so Neil Lennon’s team will now have to pursue other transfer targets to fill in at the left-back position before the market officially closes.
An improved offer for Charlton Athletic’s Alfie Doughty is expected to be made this week (via Sky Sports), as he may well be the man that the Celts look to bring in next.
