Gers flop continues to prove Gerrard wrong with first goal following £4.5m move
Glasgow Rangers flop Umar Sadiq scored his first goal for new club Almeria following his move from Partizan Belgrade.
Sadiq proving Gerrard wrong
The Nigeria international spent the first half of the 2018/19 campaign on loan at Ibrox, but failed to make an impact. He managed just four appearances before being sent back to AS Roma.
However, he has gone from strength to strength since then. It was at Partizan Belgrade where he really started to shine, scoring 23 goals and assisting a further 19 in 52 games.
That earned him a £4.5m move to second-tier Spanish side Almeria, and he is now off the mark, scoring in his third game for the club.
Didn’t work at Ibrox
For some reason, Sadiq was just not able to settle in Scotland. Not that he got too much of a chance to prove himself – he played for just 116 minutes during his time there. When he did return to Italy, the Gers fans will unlikely have been expecting to hear his name too much in the future.
Now, though, Sadiq is on the up. He even has an impressive four goals in six caps for his country, whilst Savo Milosevic said that he could become a €50m (£45.1m) player if he fulfills his potential. This is a footballer on the rise – Gerrard may regret not giving him more opportunities.
In other news, this in-demand defender trained with Rangers’ first-team ahead of their Europa League clash with Standard Liege. Let us know what you think in the comments!
