Decorated £18m-rated Leeds target attracting interest from PL rivals

Wolverhampton Wanderers are testing Leeds United’s interest in Juventus attacker Douglas Costa with Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla claiming the Midlands side have made a bid.

Marcelo Bielsa has been busy this summer, attempting to add to his squad options after gaining promotion from the Championship last term in what proved to be a title winning campaign.

The likes of Rodrigo Moreno and Diego Llorente has come in to Elland Road and the Argentine’s summer spending looks unlikely to stop at the current standing point of £79.38m.

With the transfer market due to close in the coming days, links to a number of players including Norwich City’s Todd Cantwell have emerged, whilst Costa has been linked with Leeds over the past few weeks.

Costa, 30, who is currently on the books of Italian side Juventus, is said to be available for transfer after spending the last four seasons in Serie A, winning three league titles, one Coppa Italia and one Supercoppa Italiana.

Despite appearing twice for the Old Lady this season, the Brazilian is said to have fallen down the pecking order under Juve boss Andrea Pirlo and his current Transfermarkt valuation of just £18m means he could be a bargain for interested parties like Leeds and Wolves.

Pedulla claims that whilst Wolves have made an offer to sign the former Bayern Munich attacker, Manchester United are also keen and Leeds continue to watch as developments occur.

Very much watch this space on Douglas Costa. You have to feel that he would be excited by a potential move to any one of Wolves, Leeds or Man United, having not played in the Premier League during his career thus far.

Who he feels has the better project, however, remains to be seen, especially given that the 31-capped Brazil international will want to enter the latter part of his career and find some further success.

Question marks could be raised about the interest being shown in Costa, especially considering he managed just 1 goal and 5 assists in Serie A for Juventus last term, appearing 23 times in the competition.

Do you think Leeds should move to sign Douglas Costa? Would he be a good addition? Let us know in the comments section below…
